I've heard amazing things about this concealer. Every beauty blogger / YouTuber has raved about it, it won Temptalia's Reader's Choice Awards #1 concealer of the year for 2016 and it's constantly sold out at Ulta. I've been wanting a true full-coverage concealer my entire life and haven't found my HG yet...so why has it taken me months to purchase this #1 rated concealer? Here's why: Two things about me are that I mainly buy my makeup online (I don't have time to go into the store) and I can't stand paying for shipping, especially when I get free two-day shipping from Sephora. So, the fact that this is exclusive to Ulta meaning I would have to pay for ground five-day shipping has really been the reason I procrastinated from purchasing this. I also rarely purchase from Ulta anyways for various reasons. It sounds so dumb but if it was sold at Sephora I would have bought it the second it came out. So, last week I received a 20% off coupon from Ulta and decided it was now worth it to purchase it online since it basically paid for shipping. (I'm weird I know). Does this live up to the hype? Was it worth it? Keep reading to find out!
Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer claims to be a hydrating, long-wearing, crease-free, full-coverage concealer. It comes in 14 shades and is $24 for 0.33oz. It's exclusive to Ulta.

First of all, let me start by saying this concealer completely lives up to the hype! This is the most full-coverage concealer I've tried.  The formula is thick but blendable and did a great job at covering my dark circles and redness. The wand is surprisingly huge compared to other concealer applicators. You only need a little bit of product because it goes a long way. It didn't crease after eight hours of wear and looked just as good as when I first applied it. I guessed my shade by viewing swatches online and ended up purchasing "Light Sand". I would say this is lighter than what I wanted/expected but I can work with it.

I decided to swatch some of my concealers below for comparison. My everyday under-eye concealer is the MUFE Full Coverage in #5 Vanilla, which is thinner, less blendable and a shade or two  darker than the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I always thought the MUFE concealer was borderline too light for my under-eyes but now after having the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer I think a blend of the two would be the perfect shade. Looking at the comparison swatches now, I realize that NARS Radiant Concealer in Ginger is way too dark and I should have ordered the shade Custard years ago. That's probably why I don't wear it too often but I do like the formula. The UD Naked Concealer has a great formula too but wasn't quite as light as I wanted. The Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer was running out when I swatched this, but is thinner than the other concealers and not as full-coverage. The MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC25 is a little too yellow-toned. Throughout the years, I've reached for each of these concealers for a different period of time, but now my favorite is definitely the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer.

The Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer is seriously magic in a bottle and I'm shocked at how full-coverage it is. I will definitely be re-purchasing this concealer in the future. I'm excited to try a shade darker than Light Sand next time too. This is definitely my new favorite HG concealer and I'm so happy with its results. I can't believe $6-7 shipping procrastinated my purchase of this for the past couple of months (I'm crazy I know!) If you haven't purchased this yet, stop reading my blog post, and buy your shade at Ulta RIGHT NOW. I promise you won't regret it!

Have you tried the Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer? If so, what are your thoughts? Please let me know in the comments below!

UPDATE: I purchased the shade "Light Neutral" and it's better for my skintone! If "Light Sand" is too light for you, try one shade darker, "Light Neutral".

Hi Kristin, I'm the same way - I prefer buying my stuff online than going into the store! Your review has just made me even more eager to check this one out. It's not out in stores here yet, and I definitely need to swatch the shades to pick one. Can't wait!!!

Wow, I'd love to try it! However, I sadly don't believe they sell Tarte in Sweden where I live. x

The formula of this concealer is amazing - BUT the color I got is horrible!! It is so orange and makes me look sick if I wear it. I need to get a different shade. Love that you included swatches to other concealers!

Oh no!! What shade did you try? I think they just released more shades so hopefully you can find one that works better.
